Eight-pointed seed from the Chinese evergreen tree. This fragrant spice with a licorice flavor; is one of the oldest known spices used both for culinary and medicinal purposes.
Rich in properties such as shikimic acid which is a powerful fighter against the symptoms of most forms of the flu.
To make a medicinal tea, add a teaspoon of spice to hot water for 10 minutes and strain to drink.
Anise is used to flavor Middle Eastern arak, Colombian aguardiente, French spirits absinthe, anisette and pastis, Greek ouzo, Bulgarian mastika, German Jagermeister, Italian sambuca, Dutch Brokmöpke, Peruvian anis, and Turkish raki.
